The Clyde A. Erwin High School marching band serves the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and even some 8th grade students.
This band class is open to any grade level band student upon the approval of the director. This is an inclusive class of marching and pep bands. Marching band is during the football season only. The band performs during halftime at football games and at marching band competition. Each fall the band also participates in the Asheville Holiday Parade. Please note that during the marching band season the student is required to attend after school rehearsals (Tuesdays/Thursdays from 3:00-5:00) and all band performances.
The instrumental & visual marching band classes will provide students an outlet for their creative abilities. By preparing and performing with the Erwin High School Marching Band, these students will incorporate many different curricular areas into their arts education (Math, History, Foreign Language, Reading, and Writing).
The symphonic band serves 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
This band class is open to any grade level band student upon the approval of the director. Symphonic band begins as soon as the marching band/football season has ended. It starts off by preparing for the winter concert and lasts until the end of the school year.
It is the expectation that ALL members of the band classes will work to the best of their ability and show improvement over the course of class periods, sections, and the semester. Regardless of ability level at the beginning of a course, improvement should be demonstrated by all students.
