       Warrior Band

Kimberley Benson is the Band Director at Joe P. Eblen Intermediate School and C.A. Erwin Middle School. She graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2006 with a Bachelors of Music with an Emphasis in Instrumental Music Education.  

Prior to her arrival at JPEIS/CAEMS in 2013, Mrs. Benson served as band director at Norwayne Middle School in Wayne County, North Carolina for six years.    Mrs. Benson maintains professional affiliations with the North Carolina Bandmasters Association, The North Carolina Music Educators Association, The National Association for Music Education, and is an alumnae of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. 

EBLEN INTERMEDIATE BAND

Clyde A. Erwin Middle School serves the 7th and 8th grade students in the Erwin School District.

The 7th Grade Concert band is comprised of all eligible 7th grade students. All students in the 7th Grade Concert Band have at least one year on their instruments. Students in this ensemble perform at the Winter and Spring Concert and have the opportunity to participate in several field trips. Participation in the 7th Grade Concert Band requires that a student participated in 6th grade band.

The 8th Grade Concert band is comprised of all eligible 8th grade students. All students in the 8th Grade Concert Band have at least two years on their instruments. Students in this ensemble perform at the Winter and Spring Concert, in-house concert events such as the Veteran’s Day Program and PBIS events, and select events  with the CAEHS Marching Band. Students in this ensemble will also have the opportunity to participate in several field trips. Participation in the 8th Grade Concert Band requires that a student participated in 6th and 7th grade bands.

ERWIN MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND

Joe P. Eblen Intermediate school serves the 5th and 6th graders of the Erwin School District.

In 5th grade, students will have several opportunities to listen to various ensembles from within the Erwin District. Towards the end of their 5th grade year, students will be visited by Mrs. Benson during our recruitment drive and will receive information about how to become a member of the Warrior Band.

In 6th grade, students will learn about the basics of their particular band instrument. The band is divided into three classes- brass, flute/saxophone/percussion, and clarinet. Students will perform at the Winter and Spring concerts, as well as two in-house concerts for their peers. 6th grade students will have the opportunity to participate in a spring field trip.
